- Confined Water Dives (pool training) to learn basic scuba skills.
- Open Water Dives (something other than a swimming pool) to review your skills and explore!

- Be at least 10 years old
The Scuba Gear you Use
In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear including a dive computer, and standard accessories. The equipment you wear varies somewhat, depending upon whether you’re diving in tropical or cooler waters.
Check with The Dive Shop about the gear you’ll use during this course. You can find most everything at The Dive Shop.
The Learning Materials You Need
PADI offers a variety of home – study materials for the Open Water Divers course. You will have two options at The Dive Shop, the book kit (includes divers manual, blue training log book, dive tables) and have access to the Open Water DVD. Also you have the choice of doing an eLearning option.
PADI’s Open Water Diver materials cover what you need to know about the basic scuba skills, terminology and safety procedures. For each concept you’ll read a description and watch a video demonstration. Then you’ll jump in the pool to practice these skills with your instructor. Later, as a certified diver, use the course materials as a reference guide for future diving adventuress and to review what you learned.
